Tina Nail - Fashion Designer

Objective:

To utilize my unique experience and European design aesthetic and to maximize the potential of the product I am employed to develop. This would include all aspects of what makes a design desirable; shape Fabric, cut and ultimately its position within the demographic target it is aimed at.

Achievements:

15 years running my own couture fashion design company. Working with the best brands within the fashion arena, creating unique couture garments. These include everything from evening wear to tailored suits, denim products and higher end fashion products. Many established and respected designer brands require specialist items to advertise their own perfumes and beauty products. Often, for a variety of different reasons, sometimes involving scheduling or politics, they cannot use their own designer clothing therefore they require a service that provides the highest quality of design to fit the criteria that matches their marketing concept, without compromising the integrity of their brand. This is the niche market that we supply couture clothing to. Some of these brands include Carolina Herrera, Jovan, Choppard, Clairol, Dupont Lycra, Yardley, Oil of Olay, Nike, Reebok, Sebastian International and Mercedes Benz.
The experience gained in this field requires a much broader spectrum of life skills than being confined to a particular area of fashion. These include:
  • Hiring skilled personnel, as well as inspiring a solid work ethic and maintaining moral and respect under challenging conditions.
  • Working within extremely tight deadlines.
  • Meeting and brainstorming with clients, and presenting finished illustrations, along with sourcing their fabric requirements, often importing from Europe or Japan to ensure the highest quality product.
  • Conceptual design of couture brief through illustration, pattern, toile to finished product in incredibly short time-frames.
  • Designing many clothes for celebrities and beauty products which demands an informed and progressive fashion approach

Education:

Beechlawn School for Girls - Oxford - A levels in English, History and Art.

Central Saint Martins School of Art, Charring Cross Road, London - BA (Hons) Fashion Design.
(considered the Premier Design School to Study Fashion in Europe) Curriculum includes, Fashion illustration, pattern cutting, tailoring, sewing etc. Past alumni include John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Neil Barratt Barber . Computer skills include word, Quark Express, Photoshop and illustrator.

Employment Record:

AlRomaizan Company (UK) Ltd - Gold Bullion Dealer (Spot Market) 1980 - 1983.
Freelance Design for Various Fashion Companies in London and Italy 1987 - 1989. These include: Laura Ashley, Next, Burro, Maxfield Parish and Top Shop.
1989 to Present. Moved to USA and set up Corporation to begin Nail & Rockett couture design studio. Gained green card (permanent residency) through "Alien of extraordinary ability program" Represented by ICM.

Have designed for and worked with many celebrities, these include Nicole Kidman, Sharon Stone, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue and many more. Recently did Scottish collection for "Dressed to Kilt" Fashion Show in New York. Design full collection for Sebastian International hair show.

Summary:

Highly motivated, energetic, personable person, committed to achieving better results every time. Passionate about clothes, thinks "Outside of the box". Not frightened to use initiative, good communicator, intelligent, educated, well spoken and well presented with a good sense of humor. What I would like to bring to the table is creativity and innate "savvy" and an approach to design that embraces both "The Big Picture" and the detail required to ensure that the product is the best it can possibly be every time, creating a brand that I am proud to be associated with, and enjoy working on.
