Michael Rockett- Fashion Designer

Objective

I have been a highly successful Costume Designer in Los Angeles for fifteen years, working with top Directors, Producers and celebrities on many high profile TV commercials. I now wish to utilize this experience and return to the fashion design arena.
I studied at the prestigious Central Saint Martins School of Art in London, Europe's top fashion design school, gaining a BA (Hons) degree in fashion design. The school's past alumni include John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Neil Barrett Barber to name but a few.
I am highly proficient in all aspects of design; illustration, pattern making, draping and construction. I can design, cut and construct any item of clothing to a very high standard. Good communication skills, a close team work ethic and a directional fashion sense combine to create a hard working and insightful approach to product development. Having a large and diverse body of work, I feel I could offer my design talent's to a varied spectrum of companies. I aspire to the highest standards in creativity, quality and innovation.

Achievements:

15 years running my own couture fashion design company. Working with the best brands within the fashion arena, creating unique couture garments. These include everything from evening wear to tailored suits, denim products and higher end fashion products. Many established and respected designer brands require specialist items to advertise their own perfumes and beauty products. Often, for a variety of different reasons, sometimes involving scheduling or politics, they cannot use their own designer clothing therefore they require a service that provides the highest quality of design to fit the criteria that matches their marketing concept, without compromising the integrity of their brand. This is the niche market that we supply couture clothing to. Some of these brands include Carolina Herrera, Jovan, Choppard, Clairol, Dupont Lycra, Yardley, Oil of Olay, Nike, Reebok, Sebastian International and Mercedes Benz.

The experience gained in this field requires a much broader spectrum of life skills than being confined to a particular area of fashion. These include:
  • Hiring skilled personnel, as well as inspiring a solid work ethic and maintaining moral and respect under challenging conditions.
  • Working within extremely tight deadlines.
  • Meeting and brainstorming with clients, and presenting finished illustrations, along with sourcing their fabric requirements, often importing from Europe or Japan to ensure the highest quality product.
  • Conceptual design of couture brief through illustration, pattern, toile to finished product in incredibly short time-frames.
  • Designing many clothes for celebrities and beauty products which demands an informed and progressive fashion approach
